Spook Sparrow, Director of Spynook, Image, Info and Intel agency, 'where the spies hide'. Or would do if they could find it. Spynook is a secret retreat in woodlands concealed within the map so it disappears when you look for it. You might think you can find it using technology but you do so at your peril. Perhaps you assume you have found it now but this encounter is paradoxical and regulated by secret laws that you are not allowed to know about. Rest assured that there is little danger of your being renditioned or tortured. You are relatively safe under my protection provided you have come here to avoid trouble rather than to cause it.

Problems here have arisen during my absence on covert missions in other retreats where secret agents conceal themselves. There is one near a ruined castle where even I get lost and crows and peacocks pursue me and there are goths chained up in the dungeons for breaching anti-social behavior orders. They look mad and scary but they have helped me out sharing their crumbs of bread with me when I have been in difficult situations. The characters you have to be wary of usually appear quite respectable and plausible. In my profession you learn to be wary of the way people disguise themselves. I focus on achieving my mission and protecting my sources and those who assist me.

Despite some scary moments but I succeeded in my mission and was hoping to get a rest when I got back to the Nook. Robin was supposed to be in charge during my absence, but apparently he thought he had been sacked for misconduct so he set about sabotaging the place. Fortunately our security chap knows how to manage these situations as he has appropriate criminal convictions and served sentences in very tough prisons. He is also good at fixing things and it is so hard to find staff with practical survival skills. He features in our promotional cartoon along with Robin, Nadya, me and Figaro from Art Asylum. I did have some reservations about that film but Five assured me that renditions, unlike petitions, are effective. Whilst I cannot argue with that I am concerned that we are giving the impression that Spynook is in the business of rendition, though our associates do use appropriate methods to deal with terrorists, tyrants and other desirables. Off now to meet my mates who have no idea of my secret identity. To them I am just a chirpy chappy.
